Tourism Destination planning & development
Kleinhardt formulated a Tourism Policy Statement for the National Government of Papua New Guinea. This was accepted by the National Executive Committee and provided a framework for future growth of tourism in the region.
Kleinhardt was involved in the development of a Strategic Corporate Plan for the Tourism Promotion Authority of Papua New Guinea which established a pragmatic strategic plan for the development of tourism infrastructure which would render the best yield given the limited resources available.
Kleinhardt conducted investigations and recommendations of tourism industry development opportunities in Brunei. This resulted in the Brunei Tourism Development Division appointing Kleinhardt to identify and source potential developer investors and operators. This resulted in additional business opportunities for Australian operators.
Kleinhardt developed a strategic plan on behalf of the Port Douglas Daintree Tourism Association which resulted in it reorganisation to a business model with robust linkages to local, regional and state organisations to enable beneficial leverage.
Kleinhardt was retained to promote and co-ordinate "Australian Tourism Resources", a tourism industry business network targeted at tourism industry development in offshore destinations. Kleinhardt identified opportunities in Brunei, Saudi Arabia, China and Vietnam which ultimately secured work for local organisations.
Kleinhardt was instrumental in the design, development and ongoing management and operation of a national tourism industry credit bureau on behalf of the Inbound Tour Organisation of Australia (ITOA) . This was widely embraced by the tourism industry as a highly effective, reputable and efficient credit management tool.
